Local funk ‘n’ grooves

Shrimpboat is the brainchild of Bobby Gentilo and Jason Hoffheins come to fruition; a group of artists with enough in common to work well with one another, but different enough apart to bring a wealth of perspectives to the table. As an engineer and producer at Right Coast Recording Studio in Columbia, PA, Bobby had the unique opportunity to sample from a wide range of local talent, and hand pick each member.
Striking their first notes in 2012, Shrimpboat was quick to start performing, playing monthly shows at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center Stage on Herr, and various bookings in the Lancaster area. But they set themselves apart from other bands when they released their studio session video of their original song “Busted Soul.” Both the song and the video captured the attention of renowned engineer DaveNatale, who is known for his work with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, and countless others. Natale expressed an interest in recording and filming with the band, but this time, all analog, no computers, and in September of 2013, Shrimpboat began work on “Slickie Ricky.” Natale captured the essence of band in that session – a fresh yet familiar approach to soul, funk and rhythm & blues with powerful vocals, tight harmonies, and energizing grooves.
