September 8, 2012 · 7:00pm

Since summer technically lasts until September 20 (or is it the 21st?), we’re excited to wrap up what has been a rocking season of TableTop Sessions with one more rocking night of rocking music. With Labor Day weekend crowding up the first Saturday of the month, however, we’re pushing back the TTS to September 8 to give you yet another weekend of fun! This month, join us as we welcome Pittsburgh-based rockers Good Night, States and Lancaster’s own Ben Roth.

Don’t forget, it’s a BYOB event (Bring a 6-pack or a bottle of wine to share). And it’s a POTLUCK! Show off your culinary chops with a dish to share. RSVP on Facebook and leave a comment with what you’ll be bringing to avoid duplicates and so we can make sure the proper plates/bowls/spoons/forks/sporks are on-hand.

Best part of it all is that you get to see the best upcoming talent that Lancaster has to offer FOR FREE! (please bring cash donations for our musicians!) Please arrive at 7pm, as music starts promptly at 8pm.

On September 8th, we are pleased to welcome to our TableTop:

Good Night, States

It’s been a busy year for Pittsburgh’s Good Night, States. Earlier this summer, the five-piece analog rock outfit spent some time on the road – from Motor City Detroit to Charm City Baltimore – supporting folk-rock upstarts The Lumineers, resulting in a series of sold-out shows and heaps of new fans. If Tellus360 sold tickets to this event, we expect it to sell out, as well. After all, GN, S maybe be rooted in Pittsburgh (and New Jersey, and New York?), but their geography finds its epicenter – not to mention a pocket of loyal fans – right here in central PA. Drawing comparisons to rock-folk giants Wilco, GN, S is poised to bring a new energy to the Tellus360 front room like we’ve not yet experienced! Good Night, States is comprised of five members – Steve, Megan, Trevor, Dan and Matt – who own a lot of gear, frequently drive back and forth between Pittsburgh and the New York metro area, and build their own noise-making contraptions. The band’s music features carefully crafted songwriting, beautiful melodies, vintage analog synthesizers, four part vocal harmonies, and a plethora of handwired guitar pedals and amplifiers.

Ben Roth

Ben Roth is a really cool dude. He’s been in a thousand different bands. He’s played 17 different instruments (four of which at the same time). He’s given 17 million high fives. He’s a vixen in the kitchen, but more than his culinary and barista expertise (you can find him behind the counter at Lancaster’s Chestnut Hill Cafe), his heartfelt lyricism and knack for writing smart, fun, playful-yet-serious songs is something to behold. In November 2010, he and some friends formed the Ben Roth Band and recorded an album, Doog. This month, treat your ears to some of those songs, as well as a few newbies, in an intimate setting with just Ben and his guitar. But be warned — once you enter the Ben-zone, you might not want to leave (without a high five, at least).
