Named ‘Female Performer of the Year’ in last year’s New England Music Awards, Sarah Blacker’s heart-felt “emotionally charged” song lyrics (iTunes), “infectious, well-written songs” (Huffington Post), impressive musicianship, and downright conviction has been continuously winning over audiences from her home-town of Boston, clear across to Germany where she performed for sold-out crowds of listeners just two years ago. CBS Boston called her a top female, and both she and her song, ‘Shiver’ were nominees for song and songwriter of the year in this year’s New England Music Awards, while she was also nominated in the Boston Music Awards for the same. Her very own genre, “Sundress rock,” nods to her hard-hitting foot stomps, and at-times aggressive acoustic guitar strumming, but also allows for the span of emotions her ukulele-driven ballads and upbeat pop/jazz tunes allow. Her message, “songs save lives.” Her motto, “leap and the net will come.”
Honest, thought-provoking lyrics & simple but poignant melodies characterize Matt Wheeler‘s songwriting. With live shows that feature a heartfelt delivery of songs mixed together with a dose of light-hearted humor, Matt’s music is easy to like. Based in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Matt Wheeler & Vintage Heart are emerging with a brand of acoustic folk-rock that reflects faith, love, and what it means to be human. Drawing influences from the folk/singer-songwriter tradition such as James Taylor and Iron & Wine, Matt’s musical poetry can range from lilting and sweet to haunting and driving.
