Killin’ the Blues
An exciting soulful mix of blues, rock, and ALL things fun and funky, Killin’ the Blues has all the elements of the great rock and blues bands of yore. Armed with KILLER singing, playing and performing this crowd-churning trio bring you the best of classic blues and rock, as well as their own original takes on the genres. Intensely groovy, they’ll have you drinking and dancing the night away, forgetting your trials and tribulations, and letting the good times roll all night long!
Albie von Schaaf is from upstate New York, now living in the Lancaster area. He was a founding member of the Ska/Core Band “Can’t Say”. Can’t Say toured the east coast and mid west in the 90’s playing at venues such as CBGB, The Wetlands, 930 Club, and various festivals. His most recent original rock band, Black Fuel, out of Albany, NY, was deeply rooted in the blues. Albie is a veteran player who brings his love of the blues & rock to this new project based in Lancaster, Pa. Killin’ the Blues is a mix of his originals and covers.
Press: “Those who have tracked the progress of Albert “Albie” Von Schaaf these last 15 years or so know the magnitude and depth of the rock renegade’s talent. On guitar, he’s a blazing flamethrower, some unholy concoction of Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Billy Gibbons that leaves even seasoned guitar vets quaking when they happen upon him fiercely jamming at some open mic or barroom gig. What sometimes gets lost in the maelstrom is that Von Schaaf is one hell of a songwriter and lyricist as well. ” – Metroland Magazine
David Denisewicz is a veteran Lancaster musician, an alumnus of popular 90’s band Bent. His fluid, melodic and percussive style adds depth and presence to the band’s sound, helping to create their unique, hyper musical dynamic. Not to mention, he’s the nicest dude you’ll ever meet.
Sherick Guthrie is the band’s funky, hard rocking secret weapon. The multi-instrumentalist is a veteran of many of Lancaster’s finest and most well known groups, such as the Octavia Blues Band and Ric Emery, as well as having been Dave’s band mate in Bent. His wild-eyed, rocking presence brings some of the SHOW to the show, and his rock solid rhythms will keep that booty shaking!
The Separators are a new band consisting of brothers Alex (Guitar) and Matt Abel (Drums), fronted by Colin Deery (Vox, Bass). After playing and writing music together for a while, the Separators have finally recorded and independently released their debut EP “Sixes & Sevens”. With this collection of songs, the Separators provide an exciting alt rock sound which has potential to stand alongside the very best. Through incipient promotion, The Separators are ready to put themselves on the map.
