Tellus360 Ireland Trip 2014
The chance of a lifetime for an insider’s tour of the Emerald Isle!
May 10, 2014
THIS TRIP IS NOW FULL
A Trip You Will Never Forget
That’s right, we’re hosting another trip to Ireland! We had such a blast with last year’s group that we simply had to go back again. And what better way to travel to the Emerald Isle than with a small group, on a private coach, with two Irish Lancastrians?!?
Dates and Pricing
May 10-18, 2014
Leading up to the trip, we will be hosting five Information Sessions at Tellus360 (24 E. King St., Lancaster) throughout the summer and fall to go over the trip itinerary, tell some stories about the towns we’ll be visiting, show off some photos from last year’s trip, and – most importantly – answer any questions that you may have to make sure that this is the trip for you.
You can also put down a deposit for the trip at these sessions to secure your spot (see details at bottom of page on this!). We’re limiting the participants to 20, and this is on a first come, first served basis!!!! (So the sooner you sign up, the better! Don’t wait til the last session!)
We understand that for most people on this trip that this is their only chance to visit Ireland. Because of this, we are running this trip with the idea of giving everyone the freedom and flexibility to get what they want out of Ireland.
Your guides for the trip will be none other than Joe “Master of Disaster” Devoy and Mairtin ”The Messer” Lally, the two Irish lads who own and operate Tellus360. Joe, a Waterford native, has been living here in the U.S. since 1987, but still needs to get home to his mother’s home cooking at least twice a year. Mairtin, a native of Galway, is off the boat for about 3 years now and goes home for “Tayto” potato chips and sometimes includes a quick visit to one of his five brothers and one sister.
Last year we found that some of us either wanted to go to Ireland a few days early or stay a few days later than our schedule to visit family, friends or to see a bit more of the country that was outside of our itinerary. This time around we will leave the booking of the flights up to you.
We recommend flying from Philadelphia (US Airways) or JFK (Aer Lingus) to Dublin. We will rendezvous in Dublin (The Sheridan Hotel on Steven’s Green on May 10) to begin the trip, and this is also where we will also finish the trip.
Please remember that we are more than happy to help you arrange your flights. We will organize a carpooling system to get from Lancaster to your respective airports.
We found that a group no bigger than 20 people is the perfect size for trips like these. We will have a 35-seater coach at our disposal, so we will be very comfortable. (Especially on the mornings after a few pints with Joe when all you want to do is lay across the seats for a quick nap.)
Pricing is based on per person sharing. Should you want your own room please let us know and we will check out the pricing difference.

Last year we drove over 800 miles and stopped in over 20 towns. We covered a lot of ground, we stopped frequently and everyone was thrilled that they got to see so much of the country in just 9 days. We have modified the trip a little since last year, however, in hopes to squeeze that little bit more value into the trip.
You will notice that we are not hitting all the big cities and tourist traps. Just like last year, we will give you an authentic local Irish experience that you simply will not get with the 100’s of other standard and generic touring companies that bring groups to Ireland. Limiting the group to just 20 guests give us this flexibility to move along as quickly or as slowly as the group wishes.
We will be staying overnight the following villages, towns and cities:
Known to most visitors as their favorite part of Ireland, the City of The Tribes is a must! Shops, pubs, history and plenty of mischief.
Pub of the Night – Taaffes Bar
Instead of going to the tourist trap which is Inis Mor, we’re taking you to on a 40-minute ferry ride to Inis Oirr – the smallest of the three Aran Islands. It’s a lovely, tranquil part of Ireland which is home to some of the most hospitable people you will ever meet. Imagine a rocky island of raw nature about 5 miles off the mainland. Take away cell phones and cops. Then put about 50 houses and 3 pubs on it. Then add cozy fireplaces, traditional Irish music and the creamiest Guinness your mind can conceive. That’s Inis Oirr.
Pub of the Night – Tigh Ruairi
Wonder at the Cliffs of Moher, surf the waves of Lahinch, explore the caves and mountains of the Burren region. Wonderful limestone region steeped in history. Our favorite parts – the raw nature, the live music and “craic” in the bars!
Entry to “The Visitor Experience” at the Cliffs of Moher is included and, if time allows it, we will also tour the Ailwee Caves.
Pub of the Night – TBC
Dingle, Co. Kerry
Castles, lakes, mountains, winding roads and people you will question to be on the verge of insanity. This part of Ireland is truly breathtaking – just ask Google or YouTube! From here you can go on fishing trips, go mountain climbing, cycling, or just hang out on a high stool in one of the bars.
Here you will be treated to a leisurely tour of the the full Ring of Kerry. You simply have to experience this vast beauty to believe it.
Pub of the Night – TBC
Clonakilty, Co. Cork (2x nights)
Just west of Cork City, Clon (as it’s called) is a melting pot of musicians of all sorts. It’s also won awards for being Ireland’s “tidiest town”. Clonakilty is another fine example of where we will find hilarious locals and brilliant pints of Guinness.
Pub of the Night(s) – TBC
Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
The hometown of the famous Joseph Devoy, Dungarvan is a fantastic town to just wander around and hang out with Joe’s welcome home party.
Here we will be taking tours of the Waterford Crystal Facility, taking day hikes, antique shopping and playing golf.
Pub of the Night – TBC
Dublin City, Co. Dublin
We couldn’t leave out the capital! Here is the home of the Guinness Brewery, Jameson Distillery, St. Patricks Cathederal, Kilmainham Jail, Stephens Green, Trinity College, HQ of the Gaelic Athletic Association, the centre of our political system and also the battleground of the Easter Rising which lead to Ireland getting its Independence from the English in 1916. There is LOTS to do and see in Dublin City so we will give you the time a freedom to just go and explore! And please feel free to ask us for tips and ideas of what to do with your time there – We are there to help!
