We’re celebrating FOOD DAY!!!
October 24 is national Food Day – a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food and a grassroots campaign for better food policies.
Now it’s no secret that Lancaster County offers some of the best produce in the country. Just walk through one of the many markets downtown and around the county, and you’ll find yourself face-to-face with not only a variety of fresh produce, meats and cheese, but with the farmers and producers themselves!
With that sense of community in mind, we’ve partnered up with the Lancaster Buy Fresh Buy Local chapter to host An Open (farm)House Eat & Greet with a variety of Lancaster-based farmers.
If you didn’t already know, our cafe, The Farmette, is dedicated to serving up the freshest, localist, farmiest ingredients, with all ingredients sourced from a variety of farmers and producers here in Lancaster.
On October 24, you’ll have a chance to not only eat local foods, but have a conversation with the very farmers who supplied the food! Participating farmers will have tables set up with information about their farms, samples from the field, and, well, whatever else they want to bring along!
The event will run from 11am-4pm and is free to attend, but you’ll have to pay for your lunch at The Farmette :)
Our event is just one of many taking place all week long throughout Lancaster City and County. View the full list of Food Day events here!
