Dirk Quinn Band

dirk quinn

The Dirk Quinn Band is a high energy funk/jazz band based out of Philadelphia that travels extensively throughout the US and Canada. They released “Live at Home” in January of 2012. Featuring tracks recorded over 5 different shows in and around their hometown of Philadelphia, the new CD runs the gamut from beautiful and delicate movements to evil dissonance; from intricate and thought provoking melodies to hard driving funk and is a fantastic representation of the group’s live show experience. The band’s infectious energy and musical interplay routinely attract listeners that are admittedly more accustomed to lyric-based music. With great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an accessible modern edge, the Dirk Quinn Band is jazz/funk improvisation at its most exciting!

Chaos Thompson’s heady grooves and funky tunes are sure to get you on your feet and shaking your thang. With their original sound, Chaos will bring you back to the bygone days of funk and fusion, while giving you something you have never heard before.

Initially formed as a class project, Chaos Thompson was founded by Rory Flynn and Brad Mastrangelo during their enrollment at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. The two set out to form a band that was steeped in jazz and funk tradition, but wasn’t afraid to do their own thing. They started the band and, after several changes in personnel, became the group that exists today. Though often labeling themselves as a funk band, Chaos’ sound ventures into various musical territories including rock, blues, fusion, jazz, hip-hop, and world music.

Chaos T has been thrilling audiences in southeastern Pennsylvania at such venues as the Note, the Chameleon Club, and Puck Live, building a strong following throughout the Lancaster area and beyond. They have had the opportunity to share the stage with such acts as the Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Flux Capacitor, Bodega, and the Dirk Quinn Band.

The band is currently working on their first EP of original material that will be released later this year. However, fans of the band know that the Chaos Thompson experience can only be fully appreciated when enjoyed first hand: “manic”, “energetic” and “downright Chaotic”, their unique, electrifying performances make them a group to look out for.
