Husky Pants & the Rail
Husky Pants and the Rail is a jam-type band located in Central PA. Blending a sound of good time bar jam music with funk, jazz, and rock, HPR pulls from a large catalogue of original songs and tasteful covers to get you up and dancing! HPR was conceived of the long-time relationship between acoustic loop master and songwriter Aaron Daniel Gaul, former members of the Central PA band Spotus, and keyboardist Joel Toluba.
UZO is well known for their explosive high-energy live shows leaving audiences floored by their performance and craving more. Combining Funk, Jazz and Heavy Fusion influences, their instrumental mind-bending compositions take you on a musical rollercoaster that leaves you asking your psychiatrist for more Prozac. UZO/Uncle Otter has shared the stage with many bands such as: The Jimmy Herring Band, The Disco Biscuits, Kung Fu, American Babies, Viperhouse, RAQ, Project Object, Steve Kimock Band, Bernie Worell, Brothers Past, The Codetalkers, Juggling Suns, Smoking Grass, and many more.
The Heavy Push
The Heavy Push is a power trio featuring up-and-coming young guitarist Joey Dougherty and seasoned local music scene veterans Mike Dinse (The Green Onions, Corty Byron Band) on bass and Ffej Herb (herbie) on drums. The band performs a variety of 60s and 70s classic rock as well as jam-band and progressive rock-influenced original compositions. Conceptual Continuity is the brainchild of drummer Ffej Herb, who is a huge Zappa freak in his own right, although all three members of the band are huge fans of Zappa’s music. As a matter of fact, the band has never played a show that didn’t feature at least one Zappa tune in its setlist! Nineteen-year-old Dougherty is a gifted, well-rounded musician (not only a guitarist) who is poised to make a big dent in the local music scene and beyond! He will be attending Berklee School of Music in the fall of 2014.
The Wilmington School of Rock’s DE Team
Directed by Eric Svalgård, keyboardist for Project Object from 2006-2013, the Wilmington School has always used Frank Zappa’s music as a teaching tool. It sets the bar for musicianship and the students learn how far they can push themselves and still get a laugh at the lyrics. Svalgard has done Zappa shows at the Phily, Downingtown and Wilmington Schools and has taken students to Germany to play Zappa music at the Zappanale Festival (www.zappanale.com) He and his kids have performed with Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ike Willis, Don Preston, Ed Mann, Bunk Gardner and many, many other Zappa alumni as far back as 2003 and as recently as last summer.
DE Team is a group of the top students from the Wilmington School of Rock (www.wilmington.schoolofrock.com) and we will be playing selections of Frank’s music that we have in our standard repertoire as well as a few surprises.
