Irish indie rock from Philly

We’ll be wrapping up the King Street Seisiun by bringing the music inside with Birmingham Six!
It’s the indie rock of Irish music. In the vein of The Pogues, Flogging Molly and The Tossers with the spirit of the Wolfe Tones and Clancy Brothers.
Birmingham Six (five members actually) take their name from the six men wrongfully jailed for the Birmingham Pub bombings in 1974 and have been performing for audiences since 2006. With two full length releases, Iron Rations – 2008 and The Kessel Run – 2012, the Six put on an energetic, tight live performance that has allowed them to be a supporting band for many internationally touring acts that include Derek Warfield and the Young Wolftones, The Wolftones and The Tossers. They have been called “the indie rock band of Irish music” as they mix original music with their own arrangements of traditional Irish songs in their live shows. Birmingham Six’s upcoming 2014 release tentatively titled “Born in a Puddle of Gasoline,” is their first all original and long awaited full length album.
