Series 42 BENYARO
Indie Roots and Rock
October 8, 2016 · 8:00pm
BENYARO is Ben Musser’s Indie Roots and Rock project started in the subways of Brooklyn, NY and now based out of Jackson Hole, WY.A “power duo”, Benyaro has a sound reminiscent of “acoustic David Bowie”, “early Tom Waits”, and “if you’re a fan of The Band or their modern-day counterparts The Avett Brothers, there’s a good chance you’ll take a shine”, according to Nashville SCENE. Live performances showcase Musser’s rich voice and impressive musicianship as he simultaneously performs acoustic guitar, kick drum, harmonica, hihat, and shaker with contagious energy, all while singing. His confident vocals have drawn multiple comparisons to Bowie and Cat Stevens, among others. Complimented by Leif Routman on upright bass and convincing harmonies, one is treated to the sound of a full band as the minimalist duo draws audiences into their world of indie, soul, rock, blues, folk, country and gospel.
On their fall 2016 ‘Get out the Vote’ Tour, Benyaro will partner with HeadCount and Rock the Vote to encourage voter registration and participation in November’s elections. In conjunction with their tour, Benyaro will release the first new material from their sessions with Danny Kadar (The Avett Brothers, My Morning Jacket), recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC.
Benyaro has toured with some of Americana’s finest artists, including: Shovels & Rope, The Infamous Stringdusters, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Anders Osborne, Malcolm Holcombe, and one-off support of The Avett Brothers, Langhorne Slim & the Law, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Samantha Crain, Mandolin Orange and The Farewell Drifters, among others.
