Join us once again for a wonderful night of local music with Ben Rothermel and El El. Don’t forget, it’s a BYOB event (Bring a 6-pack or a bottle of wine to share) with potluck style food. Best part of it all is that you get to see the best upcoming talent that Lancaster has to offer FOR FREE! (donations taken for musicians!) Please arrive at 7pm, as music starts promptly at 8pm.
On April 14, we are pleased to welcome to the TableTop Session:
Ben Rothermel is one of those songwriters who, from the first lyric of the first song of the night, you can immediately tell he means every single word that leaves his lips. There’s passion, experience, life and love woven into each line. Whether reflecting on his relationships with his wife, his God or his baby boy, Ben puts on no airs; what you see, or rather, what you hear, is what you get. And that’s a great thing.
In 2011, Ben released his debut full-length album, Blue or Green. At 10 tracks, Ben’s indie folk sound ebbs and flows between angsty strained vocals to gentle whispers. Ben Rothermel is a soft-spoken shouter, a quiet observer, a feeler.
We are very excited to welcome Ben to the Tellus stage, and we sincerely hope you take this opportunity to hear him perform. His is a voice you will want to hear again.

At first glance, a band name like El El might be, well, confusing. But there’s method to this madness; each of El El’s members’ names contain not one, but two “L”s – vivacious vocalist Laura Luce, keyboard commander Luke Leidy and dominating drummer Dominic BiLLett. And as anyone who’s caught the elusive El El in action will tell you, the lucky listener gets a heck of a lot more than just 6 L’s.
When Dominic and Luke lock in, what ensues is a high-energy, ramshackle rock and roll sonic experience, complete with hoots, hollers, smiles and piano solos that tiptoe the line between mad musical science and classical composition. Combine that raucous foundation with Laura’s sweet and smart lyrics and sassy delivery, and El El takes you into a timeless vortex somewhere between the Roaring 20’s, a Chicago blues club and an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
The musicianship of these three artists is undeniable, unparalleled and, as a result, leads the listener on an unpredictable journey. We know you’ll be tapping your toes and raising you glass to El El. And best of all, Laura, Luke and Dominic are likely to raise their glasses in return.
