An Evening of Rush with Solar Federation

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally ready to assume control! Solar Federation is pleased to announce its debut public performance at one of the premier Central PA live music venues – Tellus360 in Lancaster, PA. Join us for an evening of Rush music that spans multiple decades. You’ll hear all the songs you’d expect to hear at a Rush concert plus plenty of deep album cuts and rarely played gems from the holy triumvirate’s expansive catalog. Almost every album will be represented!

Solar Federation is the brainchild of Ffej Herb (herbie), a seasoned Central PA-based drummer whose life-long obsession with Rush has led him on many musical journeys since he first began playing at age 8. Although the idea of starting a band exclusively dedicated to covering Rush sparked many years ago, it wasn’t until he finally met fellow Rush fanatic and director/instructor at The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center, Eric Wirsing (Julie Schreiber Band), that the idea became a reality. With two of the core members of the band solidified, they set out on the daunting task of finding a Geddy Lee. This quest resulted in splitting Geddy’s parts among three equally qualified musicians: local bass giant and prog rock disciple Mike Bitts (The Innocence Mission); trained vocalist and Berklee College alum Julie Schreiber (Julie Schreiber Band), and multi-instrumentalist Joey Dougherty (The Heavy Push). Realizing that Rush was never known for its looks or fashion sense, the band decided that it would be better to focus on accurate representations of the challenging material rather than struggle with the limitations of a three-piece, kimono-wearing, prosthetic-nose-donning tribute band. And thus Solar Federation was born. Prepare for this band to assume control!
