Central PA jam band herbie brings its Christmas show to Lancaster and Tellus360 for the second year in a row!

“Imagine if King Crimson, Traffic and Frank Zappa had dinner and drinks with Phish and moe., and that still wouldn’t quite cover what herbie is.” – Shinbone Magazine

Whatever herbie is, you can hear what the band is all about as it ushers in yet another installment of its annual holiday extravaganza on Saturday, December 12. Dubbed “A Very Herbie Christmas,” the show is in its twelfth consecutive year and has become an annual tradition for the band and its fans alike. Last year, the band decided to switch gears and hold the event in Lancaster at Tellus360 after a decade-long run at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg. “We’ve developed an amazing relationship with the folks at Tellus360 since we started playing there more than two years ago,” explained herbie drummer Ffej Herb. “There’s really no other venue like it in the area, and we’re excited they’re hosting our biggest show of the year again!”

So, what can you expect?

herbie’s live show is fun, energetic and diverse. Says Fly Magazine, “Within the constraints of an hour and a half set, herbie manages to evoke just about every music style one could possibly imagine. Anywhere from Edgar Winter to ELP, Phish to Rush, Sublime, Steely Dan and beyond, the band takes an encyclopedic trip down the past 30 years of good music.” It is common for the band to mix original songs and cover tunes with stretched out improvisational passages and impromptu musical interludes. The band is truly in its element on stage. Past Xmas shows have included guest musicians, secret once-and-done cover songs, holiday music, visits from Santa Claus, contests and giveaways, and much more.

There’s also plenty of herbie’s own blend of high energy rock, including material from its most recent CD release. Simply titled herbie, the album features thirteen original songs never-before recorded or released by the band. “It’s the album we always knew we wanted to make,” Herb said. “We’re very proud of it and will be playing a lot of the material at the show.”

The album was funded by a successful campaign, whereby fans pledged on-line to assist with recording, post-production, and packaging costs of the CD. “Our fans really came through for us,” said Herb. “We couldn’t have done the CD without them!”

Formed on the campus of Lebanon Valley College in the fall of 2000, herbie began to pick up steam on the Central PA scene in 2003, garnering lots of press, praise, and high profile shows. Not sure what to make of the band, the public typically grouped herbie into the “jam band” genre. The jam band tag ultimately gave herbie some recognition when the band won back-to-back “Best Jam Band” honors at the Central PA Music Award ceremonies in 2006 and again in 2007 (the only two years the Awards took place). In its later years, herbie has blossomed into an incredibly tight musical unit able to melt faces with its high-energy guitar rock and focused bass and drum grooves, while simultaneously exploring the inner reaches of its own musical soul and sharing it with its audiences all over the East Coast.

OneTrickGrizzly is a hard hitting rock band from Harrisburg, PA with the mission to expand the reach of their music throughout the Pennsylvania area and outward.

John Bocian, Kyle Herb, and Jon Semborski formed the band in September of 2014, and have been playing shows throughout the central Pennsylvania area ever since. We pull our musical sound and inspirations from groups like The Rival Sons and The Black Keys as well as older influences such as Led Zeppelin and ACDC.

In the last couple months we have made a three track EP -Bear Essentials- with the help of local producer/engineer Micheal Washkevich. There is much more to come.
