Once upon a time, before there was beer, or music, or events, Tellus360 was a store. Four years later, visitors continue ask us… do you still have the store? Finally, we have a better answer to this question:
No… but now there is a monthly Maker’s Market in Lancaster, that we frequently get to host at Tellus360, and it is wonderful.

Last Friday, Creatively Lancaster held a special “First Friday” Makers Market at Thistle Finch Distillery. We went to enjoy the market, and to ask founders Christine and Steph about their vision for the Makers Market and how it has quickly become an important part of Lancaster’s creative vibrancy.

What is Creatively Lancaster’s mission, and how did it lead to the Maker’s Market?
Creatively Lancaster’s mission is to provide venues for creative collaboration in Lancaster. We believe in the power of creativity to develop stronger communities through innovation. Our first creative outlet is the Makers Markets held once a month in Lancaster. For two years, we have attended various markets, fleas and fairs around Central PA as vendors with our other side gig – [re]chic. Lancaster has a few annual or semi-annual markets, but not consistent venues for local micro-entrepreneurs to connect with the community. “We should bring something like this to Lancaster!” we thought, and the Makers Markets began!

The First Friday Makers Market at Thistle Finch was very fun. How did it feel to see the event come together?
It’s rewarding and motivating to see each event come together! We pour our heart into organizing each market and strive to make each one a success. We leave feeling inspired and encouraged by the shoppers and vendors who enjoy their time at the Market and say they can’t wait for the next one!

Why is it important to hold events in downtown Lancaster?
Lancaster is already a thriving community of creatives. It’s important to continue providing opportunities to cultivate creativity in the community so we can move forward even stronger. Events that promote community engagement enrich the sense of community pride which has a positive trickle-down effect for all residents.

Why should one visit the Makers Market?
If you’re looking for creative inspiration and a fun, unique shopping experience, visit one of the Makers Markets! Our desire is to provide a venue for local makers to showcase their talent to the local community through a one-of-a-kind shopping event. At the Creatively Lancaster Makers Market you will find a curated assortment of talented makers, creators, artists, hobbyists, crafters, bakers, and the like, hawking their original creations, unique wares, and beautiful designs. You should visit the Makers Market not only to shop, but also to be inspired by the uniquely talented group of vendors at each venue.
