IMG_1447As you walk through Tellus360 you can’t help but notice all of the furniture and other items that we have reclaimed and reused to make our building a comfortable place filled with stories. It’s a big part of our mission and who we are. We’d rather reclaim something that might normally be headed to the dump, and reuse or repurpose it in an interesting way. And now we’re on the move for the next big thing in our building.

As you’ve gone from the first floor to the green roof you’ve probably noticed a space that seems to be in a bit of transition. What was once known as Gallery360 is a bit of a dead space right now, but within the next few months it will undergo a transformation that we know will excite you, but the transformation will happen in stages.

First up, we’ll be hosting a gallery exhibit as part of the city of Lancaster’s Velocity celebration. That exhibit, which features the work of a number of local artists and artisans will run from September 18th through Fall ArtWalk (October 4 and 5).

After that, we’re going to get busy with a major transformation that hopefully won’t take too long, as we convert that space into a lounge area, like a comfortable industrial living room. It will come complete with comfy furniture, games, and an atmosphere that will be more conducive to building community. We hope to make it a space where you can work, have casual conversation, play games, and just hang out with friends.

And this is where you come in. We don’t want to use anything new in this lounge. We want all of the furniture, books, games, and other items in the room to be reused and reclaimed. We want to use as little “new” stuff as possible. But having said that, we also don’t want junk or things that are in ill repair.

Here is a list of things we are looking for, with the understanding that we can’t, and won’t, take everything that is offered to us. We want the space to be comfortable and pleasant, not cluttered and junky. We’re not just looking for your castoffs, but for the quality things you no longer need.

If you have something on the list you’d like to donate, follow the instructions after the list:

Furniture – Chairs, couches, tables, lamps, etc., in good condition.

Rugs – A few area rugs/braided rugs

Games – quality games in good condition with all pieces intact. Checkers, chess, board games, etc. We already have a ping pong table, dart boards, giant jenga, and cornhole. Would love a nice pool table.

Books – We want a nice collection of good used (or new) books on the following topics:

  • Sustainability and eco-friendly living
  • Food
  • Irish culture and history
  • Local Lancaster culture/history
  • Great works of literature and poetry/classics
  • Music history, biographies, and culture
  • Religion and spirituality
  • Beer!

Music – We are interested in building a nice vinyl collection, so if you have any old albums that are in good shape, but you’re no longer using, let us know!

Do you have any of these items that you’re willing to donate to this project? Just fill out the form below, and include any photos or images that might be helpful in making our decision. Thank you!
