We can’t wait to show off our newest addition, and hopefully you’ve already noticed it while out and about in downtown Lancaster! Local artist Quinn McNichol has recently completed our first window painting, Irish-themed of course!

The biggest inspiration for my design for the window painting came from the awesome record collection my parents have, which includes a lot of Irish traditional and folk music like the Bothy Band, The Clancy Brothers and Planxty.  I wanted the picture to be light and merry and celebratory, like much of the music is.

I drew a lot from the album artwork on those records, and I also used compositional moves from two paintings that I felt related to my idea: “Celtic Tale” by Paul Serusier and “The Joy of lie” by Henri Matisse.

Quinn McNichol is a recent graduate of PA College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fine Art.  She is currently an Emerging Artist in Residence with a focus in painting at Millersville University.  You can see her work at QuinnMcNichol.com
