A fistful of nuts

The Gentle Rhythm of Friendship

 By joe devoy

 Mitzvah Hut White Mountains
So we walked the ridge of the mountain
Kings of our world
Legs and shoulders with a pleasant pain
Sometimes we talked
But mostly we walked
In the gentle rhythm of friendship

We stopped to say hello to passer bys
Some interesting others self interested
One regaled us with stories of Scotland and Norway
Our impact on our world
Brief breaks but forward motion
Brief snippets but a world of hope

Views for miles above the trees
Views for inches at our feet
A handful of nuts
A pocketful of words
Sweater on and hat off
In the gentle rhythm of friendship
