Series 42 Presents: Blair Crimmins and The Hookers w/ No Good Sister

Blair Crimmins and The Hookers

Blair Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta, Georgia, with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. What he created was a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past.  Now four years, and five hundred shows later, he has toured States playing large venues and has opened for national acts such as Mumford & Sons and O.A.R.  A multi-instrumentalist and music academic, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section  consisting of Trumpet, Clarinet, Trombone. His debut release “The Musical Stylings Of” became a college radio sensation on WRAS Atlanta making him the most requested band on the air. In 2012 Crimmins showed his musical diversity by writing and recording the full score for the independent short film “Old Man Cabbage”.  2014-2015 has been another landmark year for Blair Crimmins as he has toured in support of his highly anticipated album entitled “Sing-a-longs”.  The album is a breakthrough record which showcases a band who have polished their signature sound from years of touring.

Best Songwriter 2013: “Crimmins has never been more refined than on this year’s Sing-A-Longs CD. If he caters to any genre, it’s one entirely his own, and that’s something a lot of guys with pens and guitars either don’t know how to do, or don’t have the guts to do.”
– Creative Loafing

“Blair Crimmins & The Hookers will make a Jazzbo out of you.  This ain’t your great-grandfather’s ragtime, and Blair isn’t any quaint Dixieland revivalist.  He’s a rock Star – and Sing-A-Longs is a boisterous good time. Swing, Hookers, Swing!” – James Man (Ink 19)

Look for the band’s new album You Gotta sell Something! in March of 2017!

No Good Sister

Born out of a mutual attraction to all things Americana, Philadelphia trio No Good Sister’s dynamic songwriting and timeless three-part harmonies prove why they’re rising stars.  Singers Meaghan Kyle, Jess McDowell and Maren Sharrow collaborate on familiar folk themes, resonating reliably, making it no surprise they can be found in front of audiences at venues like World Cafe Live (both in Philadelphia and Wilmington), The Bitter End (NYC), Club Passim (Boston), have been voted Best New Artist at WSTW’s Hometown Heroes Awards (2014), named 2015’s Artist to Watch by Ticket to Entertainment, earned a coveted Quad Showcase at the North East Regional Folk Alliance (2014), and at the iconic SXSW (2014). They’ve opened for national headliners like The Steeldrivers, Eilen Jewell, and on Philadelphia Folk Festival’s Mainstage (2015) preceding Parker Milsap and Shakey Graves. Their single “Little Bit Crazy” from their self-released, self-titled EP (2014) is in regular rotation on WXPN 88.5 FM, and on the airwaves as far as the UK.
